There was a single message woven throughout the Rusin’s wedding day. On a sunny May afternoon in front of their closest friends and family, Maddie and Nathan said “I do.” Those two words hold a promise that is both deeply profound and sacred. With those two little words, a covenant was established.

 

As their officiant said so beautifully during their ceremony, some people view marriage like a contract – an arrangement that mutually benefits both parties. When the arrangement stops benefiting either party, there is no reason to keep it. This marriage is something far greater, more beautiful, and more meaningful. This marriage is a covenant – a promise before God to choose love for a lifetime. Unconditional and unrelenting. This marriage is the joining of two individuals to create one new body. Furthermore, this marriage is a reflection of the covenant relationship we have with God because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

 

Just minutes before their ceremony, Maddie and Nathan snuck away for a private moment together. Though they couldn’t see each other, they held hands, exchanged gifts, read letters, and earnestly thanked God for one another.  Tears formed in their eyes as they proclaimed His goodness and faithfulness to provide this gift of undeserved love. What a picture of grace!!

 

Maddie & Nathan – Thank you for inviting me into your celebration! I’ve loved every single second of capturing your story. As I’ve gotten to know you, your goofiness, thoughtfulness, and sincerity have blown me away again and again. I cherish our newfound friendship. I’m so excited to relive the joy of this day with all your friends and family next June.  – Kate
